Hi
I bought a drz400 sm converted to a s a few months ago. The one who was build for amageza. Only did one funduro with it.
Next time i rode it i ran out of petrol on n1. Then struggled to start after filled with petrol. And could barely start at end of the day.
Thought carb jet was clogged so cleaned carb but now doesnt want to start at all. Checked valve clearance and found no clearance on intake side and 0.28 on exhast side. Removed shim on intake side and measured to be 2.1mm.

Previous owner checked valves before i bought bike and replaced oil with 20w60 shell for high milage diesel engine.
Could the oil cause valves to wear so quickly.
Could the running out of fuel cause the valve wear.
Do i need to replace the valves or do one get smaller shims and would it be advisable to fit smaller shims.
Bike has athena head but says tbr on side. With hotcams fitted.
A friend is helping me with bike as ive never done something like is before.
Any help would be appreciated.
Kind regards
Dewald
