Another Greeting from Perth Western Australia
« on: August 30, 2008, 10:00:01 am »
Hi guys,

Gobby here, just joined up.

Will be picking some brains soon about a trip around southern Africa with me on a DRZ400 and either the son or the wife (or both) on DRZ250's, sometime in oh-nine or twenty-ten. :pot:

So if anyone has done any research, please share.

Okay, got to get ready to watch the rugby tonight  :ricky:

Cheers Gobby

Hey Journey man,

Thanks for that. Will be looking at min 8 weeks, maybe 10 tops.

The idea is to ship bikes to Durb's, then do the Swaziland, Moz trip, chill in Moz for a while, then onto Malawi, and do some riding along the lake, then swing west into Zambia, and take a slow ride to Vic Falls. Then depending on how much is left in Zim, we might try their beers, before heading to Bots, where we plan to chill in Maun for a week.

Then onto Nam, where we will do the route down the coast to C'Town, chill there for a while, then slow trip back to Durb's. Crate the bikes and send them back to Oz.

Yeah, 9pm my time, will be waych'n  :drif:

Hi Gobby,

The people on this forum are great, much advice will be forthcoming. If you want a chat or two before going let m know. I have worked extensively in most of the countries you mention. I also have some useful software for a Garmin GPS, which we can preload if you have such.

Hi All, Thanks for the warm welcome

Dave will give you a call, currently up north FIFO, thanks.

Mark, will pick your brain further on Bots.

Has anyone any first hand knowledge on shipping bikes from Oz? I found one company called Ship My Bike, and their rate looked feasible, just wondering if there are others out there?

Hi Gobby, And welcom. Show us some pics of your part of the world.

If you can rather fly the bike, less stress, less waiting. I would suggest you do your trip in 09, because 2010 is going to be more expensive and busy: WC football.
