Howzit guys,

Which offers better protection for the 690, the KTM radiator braces or a set of crash bars?  :thumleft:

Well imho the crash bars looks kak on a 690 and also ads more weight than radiator braces.
I put KTM radiator braces on mine and it's solid.
I think the 690 is enough of a dirtbike that tipovers and falls will be handled like a dirtbike. I.e plastics damaged and not much else. Rather spend the money on proper handguards and get a radiator brace.

A whole new set of plastics will probably be cheaper than crash bars as well.

I agree with MUCH of what Omninorm says, handguards should be a starting point....
and yes, it is really a large dirtbike, so tip-overs are to be expected!

But I-F you decide to go for crash bars, the ones made by T2G are extremely light YET durable, and do not detract much visually for the bike.

I will weigh a set, and post back here, they add VERY little weight.
but radiator braces are also a good option, as Omni says...

What is the price on those?

around R2500 for stainless, Husky 701 (we have stock...)
around R2900 for stainless, POWDER COATED BLACK for KTM 690... (we are out of stock...)
supplier is having production issue, so no new product being produced for last 4 months, unfortunately...
701 c/bars will fit 690....
but 690 will not fit 701 (plastics chafe, etc...)

Thanks for the info guys, will order a set of radiator braces.

Are there anyone else supplying these, or just KTM?

The bars Zebra mentions does look pretty sleek and not overly engineered like some others I' ve seen that look like scaffolding on the bike.
It needs to be orange or black though ;)

Regarding Radiator braces - I looked around some but could not find any locally. Online there are a few, KTM Twin's etc.
KTM's is R2xxxx odd. iirc it as R2399. Not so bad for a really well made product imho.

Ended up getting braces from KTM,  really happy with the product they seem solid.

I will probably end up getting bars as well from Flying Brick in the near future to crash proof the bike.
