Today was mostly about watersport - we did four Malibamatsu crossings, and three Senqu crossings. And found new shortcut between katse/thaba tseka and linakaneng in the process.

So....I took delivery of the new to me 2016 model 501 on Saturday morning.
Bike is registered, on the road with only 34hours on the clock.
Saturday afternoon was spend in the sandy tracks&hoops of Maccasser. I kept up with the 300 and 200 2strokes
Sunday we played a few hours on a wine farm..

This is an amazing bike..So light, powerfull with proper offroad suspension. Can definitely tour on this bike as well...(Capable of max speed well above 160km/hr.)
I was cruising to Maccasser at 120 - 140km/hr...and
jumped hoops like a proper plastic..
All I can say is go and test ride one.. You might be absolutely amazed about the total package
Should I put down my thoughts on this "500 platform" in a separate post?

Nice  :thumleft:

I was contemplating inviting him for a ride up Moz coast after that rally, but Minxy told me he is heading up to Nam so I let it go. Is he heading up north to Europe now or back down here? I have done what I had to do in Lesotho, so I can find some time and show him around Botswana if he wants  :thumleft:

We head up Leba pass to Lubango tomorrow, then he heads up to Zambia and we go home. Think he would've loved your trials!

Yes Xpat, I sent him on a route I drew up. A lot of it based on the trip HSK and I did, but with more stuff thrown in. He did easy going tourist route in Southern Namibia, then started from Swakopmund, up the Omaruru river, past Brandberg and surroundings, Palmwag, Otihjika Trail towards Ongongo Spring, Puros Canyon, then through the Marienfluss to Camp Syncro and up Van Zyls pass, Epupa Falls and surroundings  He says he really loved it and thoroughly enjoyed the route!!! Can't wait for the episodes :) Oh and I'll email you the route so you can see exactly the details.

Anyway, the reason I sent him up in that specific direction was... He wanted to do all the cool stuff including Van Zyls, but didn't want to do a loop as he was going to go straight from Ruacana side to do Doodsakker and Angola. His trip was cut short though due to getting the sponsorship to do Roof of Africa. As he didn't want to rush Angola, he went back from Ruacana to Windhoek (where I hooked him up with Das Alpha Tier and co), flew back to do Roof of Africa, then spent X-Mas with family. Now he flew back to Windhoek, rode up with the guys to do Angola, and will be spending time in Zambia with David Reeve before continuing with his journey. I am not too sure of his further plans.

He has only done Botswana in the 4x4 though, and has also only done a very short hop into Mozambique to sort out documentation and carnet passport for Basil Bike. Soooooooo maybe offer to show him around? I think he would love your routes there! :)

Not sure Xpat, he hasn't actually done any of Botswana, Zim or Moz on bike, don't know if he'd come down from Zambia to do those. Or which way he wants to continue? Maybe Damaraland and Das Alpha Tier here can update us? :D

Yes, that is what I asked Damaraland - hopefully he can ask him and then we can take it from there.  :thumleft:
