XT600, I'm thinking of changing current muffler. The exhaust I currently have, has these brackets welded to it. Rubber pads at the end, which the plastic side cover rests against. Shown in pic. Obviously this is to keep the side cover well away from the heat.
Question is, do I need to get the same stuff welded on to my new muffler? Without them the sidecover is still pretty stiff and stands quite far off the exhaust - cant imagine it bending flat to touch the exhaust. Also doubt that every time someone changes a muffler, these brackets need to made up & welded on. Was the previous owner just over-cautious?
