I noticed a while ago my dakar's fuel consumption came way down, and wondered if it could be the aftermarket pipe I have on, but it has been way better on a previous ocasion with said pipe. So I opened the airfilter and found a well weathered filter.
I had a couple of bad tumbles on a recent trip and I think the plastics got a bit of a knock hence the deforming. And found some oil in the intake which made everything worse!

But have now cleaned the bix and replaced the filter with a new one, so now we'll see if it gets any better!
That filter has 5k on after being serviced by bmw.

But the dirt stays fun!
