Memel Quicky

I didn’t have much in terms of a break this holiday season but managed to sneak a mid week round trip ride to Memel last week. Route was roughly Bapsfontein, Devon, Greylingstad, Lekoa, Vrede, Memel and pretty much the same back with some deviations. With the GPS on shortest distance and overriding it here and there, I rode pretty much all gravel with lots of u-turns in between. From my house in the east of Pretoria-Memel was about 400km one way and I had to ride pretty sedately to make my fuel stop. Riding was mostly good gravel although rainy season and roads that carry traffic makes for bumpy riding which made it pretty tiring. I’m pretty bad with stopping for photo’s and tracking routes but here are a few videos and some pics. Please excuse the wind noise. My cam is pretty crap when it comes to that.

This is why I don’t trust gravel crossings. This is a stop for traffic from the sides but not for me. I always slow down at this intersection and super glad I did or that bakkie would’ve come really close to mowing me down. A right turn here gets you to redstar raceway.
