Solo Sunday trip
« on: August 08, 2006, 09:07:23 pm »
Hiya all....haven't been around for a while....the amount of work, and cold weather has made me rather lethargic....Haven't done much riding or surfing for quite a while, so Sunday I decided the hell with it.....I need to get OUT. Intended to make an early start, but thick fog made me crawl back under the duvet.....at 9am I decided to finally get up, and at 10 tanked up, and headed along the N7, where I once again hit thick fog, and almost turned around, but decided to hang in there.....Glad I did

Fog behind me

To the side of me

Ahead the weather looked stunning, and so did the green fields...
I think most of the Capies went to look for snow, as the roads were empty.....I much prefer the fair weather thanks

Aah Spring....brings a smile to my face, and it's going to be a bumper flower show this year....this is only the beginning

Stopped in Piketburg for a lousy coffee, where a chap eating bread asked if I could please buy him a pint of milk....it certainly made a change from being asked for money, so I bought him some milk.  :D

Finally turned off the N7 ( was quite enjoying it) and headed in the direction of the Cederburg and crossed the Oliphants river....perfect spot to stretch the legs

And on towards....

Didn't venture too far, as I was riding alone, and felt that if anything goes wrong, it wouldn't be the warmest place to overnight

I wasn't the only one having a good time

Towards the bottom, took another road that would've taken me to Citrusdal, but being me, I didn't look at the map to see where I was going, and once again turned around....

From there, back home......I had a really enjoyable ride, and it felt so good to get some kms under me again....next time, I won't leave it so long....

Good to be back  :D

After seeing that sign I thought this was going to be the longest
ride report here.....My backside was too sore to go all the way  :D

I think Lucky Striker will know more about that place....definately a future

I know what you mean - I felt like crying on Sunday after a day/500kms in the KLR's saddle.

Ja... and everyone though the Transvall was called the TRansvall because some early ADV riders with their ADV Vehicles crossed the Vall.... its not. Grootseun hit it on the button. The Transvaal IS vaal. And that is all I have to say about that.

Thanks for sharing Mango, awesome pics and report!
Love the little euphoric guys in the field scattered with flowers, they seem so in awe!  :flower:

Wish we gals could do trips like that in Jo'burg; think it might be a little too dangerous here.  :(

Would be great to meet you sometime!  We should try and meet up for drinks next time we're in Cape Town or you're in Jo'burg.  :)

PS  Please keep us posted on what you guys get up to in Cape Town.

Thanks guys...good to be back in the swing of things...just hope this damn weather plays along...altho we need the rain, and admitedly, everything does look nice and GREEN

LITO, Droffarc, Hein and the rest of the Capies, hopefully I will be along for a ride with you chaps soon.....

Dirt@ngel, the only thing I was worried about at the beginning was a flat tyre, but once I got going, I just enjoyed the ride.....

LITO, Macduff is bikerless at the moment....something wrong with the XT again  :D A friend of his, and I are desperately trying to get him to sell his bikes, and buy an AT....shall we say "something more suited to his size?"

hehehe
