I had the back shock serviced/repair and Kelvin at Runners place send me an quote to have a crack in the 990's exhaust repaired before the crack becomes bigger. That is as I understand it.

My question is how serious is a crack like this and what happens from here on onward. Is it a model problem (i.e. happens offten to the 950/990 bikes) and if crack develops further across the gas valve thingy, very expensive etc? Can that cause burnt valves? Don't have the money to have it repaired now.
Plain laymen terms in your explanation please.
