Asking for advice ...again
« on: February 12, 2018, 06:24:00 pm »
Fellow riders,

What would you think is the cause of this crack?

Where can I have it properly fixed or replace?

Would this cause failure if left as is?

Thank you in advance

Topbox mainly.  8),
the air is cooler and more petroleum-distillate infused in a garage, this clarifies the mind and helps with the understanding of all things mechanical. In contrast, air in the house carries the latent bi-products of sanitation chemicals and room air fresheners. This, in turn, causes the testicles to retreat slightly, reducing mechanical aptitude by an order of magnitude. Then again, maybe it's just that the beer fridge is in the garage.

Over loaded top box on dirt roads.
If you carry on using the top box ...it will break off.  :-[
You can have it magnesium welded ...don't know how successful this is.

Kry versterkers by Flying Brick in CPT, hy sal dit pos. Vorige 1100 wat ek gehad het het di eienaar flatbar aan di binnekant vas gepoprivet om.di gewig te help dra en di raam te versterk.

Jy terug in di land?

Have it welded and what he said. Mine is like that. Since fixing I've toured with it ove the last four years with heavy load

Or bakgatjaco is breaking up an 1150. Get the part from him but still fit the braces

Am I correct in saying that this does not happen if you use the original alu panniers and bmw frame ? from the Adventure.

THE CHALLENGE MAY NOT BE EASY , BUT IT'S NOT IMPOSSIBLE.

The GS has the same rack as the 1100, the GSA is different, Flying Brick sells a brace to stop this happening. I would weld and get the braces.  8)

Empty Topbox mainly.  8),

Fixed!  Yes, it may sound strange but an empty topbox does more damage to the rear frame that a loaded topbox!
