Natal WFO enduro New Hanover Sat 17/3/2018

The next leg of the Natal enduro series is on tomorrow at New Hanover. It is a pretty good entry and it looks like I will be coming home with a muddy bike again. See:

It was wet. Wet, cold and miserable. In fact so wet, cold and miserable that I wimped out and left my bike on the back of the bakkie. When you engage 4 wheel drive to get out of the paddock (or get dragged by Gary Lindsay's tractor before we all had 4x4's) you know conditions are going to be a bit testy. When I was looking for position I would have reveled in a day like this but not now.  The legends took a bit of a beating. Stuart Joyner decided it was too far to come, Andrew Kean has bought a real license as he's doing the Roof this year and so had Mark Thompson.  Markus VD Merwe thought he was riding until he flattened the battery of his KTM500exc trying to start it which only left Kevin de Bruin. I felt really guilty when he came to find me and asked why I wasn't on my bike.  The rain continued pretty consistently so by the time I'd got to New Hanover to pump up my tyres most of the mud had washed off my bakkie.  The first 4 guys off the line rather over cooked it for the first turn after about 150m and threw their bikes away to peals of laughter. The rest were a bit more careful.

It wasn't a completely wasted trip. I was given an old farts finishers certificate for finishing the previous Mid Illovo WFO enduro. It was only when I got home that I realized they'd had a bit of fun with it. The Latin doesn't look like the 2 years of Latin I did at school and it's been signed off by Jimi Hendrix and Brittany Spears

Nice one Doc. I love that certificate

The last pic is food for thought. Two of SA's top riders, and neither on a KTM. First time in many years...
