Welcome to the forum :thumleft:

plenty to go on here. Look though this racing section thread. Also look for the Amageza threads. You will get a lot of ideas and see a lot of bikes. Plus some great stories :deal:

Think about something in the 450 class. Between a Yamaha or KTM.

At the moment it would be for the longer off road rides, Jozi2Kozi, pongola 500 and then in time to come something like the Kalahari rally and I know Miks is planning the same.

Guy on FB Niklaus Lutzeler or check out his company NL Designs (also on FB). He builds these things with custom fairing, tank the works.

Take 5 credit cards when you go see him. He is very insightful and gives you lots of advice but it aint cheap. His shop is behind Ellis Park.

It will cost you a lot less just buying a 2nd hand rally ready bike opposed to building one.

Hi Guys happy to assist in any way I can.
PM me on nldesigncc@gmail.com and we can chat.
I can give you all the available options we have regarding adv and rally bike builds.
We also run road book training events to give guys an idea of what a rally is all about.
As was said, rally racing is not cheap so build it right the first time and you don`t end up spending money over and over trying to get what you wanted in the first place.
If you are still thinking of a bike to use as a base, I would opt for a KTM. They have the most aftermarket items available.
I have a 450 Husky in the workshop set up as rally lite available.
