What Size Spanner
« on: April 14, 2018, 09:20:54 pm »
I bought a rolling chassis Suzuki RM-Z450 for its front end.

My problem:

I can't get the front axle nut undone.
A PO obviously has a similar problem as the nut has very worn apex edges.
A 20mm socket won't fit and a 22mm is too big - is it a 21mm (which I don't have) or is it a 20mm with the nut just so messed up?
Inputs would be appreciated!

An older type car hexagon spark plug spanner could work.....they are 21mm / 13/16" in size

Buy a donkie, Hje!

I found that I have a 17 + 19 + 21 + 23 X-shaped plug spanner and it fitted...!
It took a few sharp raps on the opposite end to get it to seat properly onto the nut,
but clearly days of penetrating oil have eased the task and it turned right off!
Thanks for the advice guys.  :thumleft:

BTW, if anyone needs sundry assorted parts off what's left of the RM-Z450 behind the steering column,
e.g. main frame, sub frame, rear swing arm, rear shock, PM me please your needs.
