help needed .
DR 650 problem. We are in Lesotho and I have the following problem with my Dr. It starts and runs perfectly and then, as you get to about 75% revs or so, 100 kph in 4th it starts farting and stalling as if there is water in the fuel, or as if the ignition is cutting out. We have checked everything....carb off, cleaned, spark good, removing and replacing airfilter has no effect, disnabling the choke has no effect, It looks as if it is drastically overfueling because the plugs are black as is the exhaust but dropping the needle has had little or not effect. The problem comes and goes,

If you have any ideas please call me on 0836400707.

thanks

Louis Schoeman.

Have you tried removing the fuel tap? It has a very fine filter inside. Maybe something inside the tank that gets sucked up agains it and deprives the motor of fuel?

Could be a stator going as well, my DRZ did that at higher revs. When I took it apart (not something to really check in Lesotho) I could see some of the coils burnt. Hopefully it's an easier fix for you.

Doubt it, but does it still have a side stand switch?

Yes,the fuel tap (pet cock) has a filter in. (Remove from the tank.)

Then pull off the fuel hose at the carb. Very tiny filter in the metal pipe.

Are you on a stock tank, with stock pet cock? Vacuum line ok?

Trust you will get it sorted. ;)

Look at the wires that runs underneath the tank across the frame, the wear through and then short against frame.
