Ek is moeg, pootuit en landuit

I have had 4months of singleness, watch what I want to watch, eat when and what I want to eat, go where I want to go, do what I want to do, BUT I won't trade it for having my family with me.

I am on leave till tomorrow (Thursday) when I go back to work but these last 5 days were awesome! I went for drinks Friday night after work before heading home to have some supper and relax for the night. I monitored my families flight via flight tracker and noticed they will be 30mins ahead of schedule landing at 11H15 and not 11H45 as scheduled. I left home at 11h15 as the airport is about 20mins away and know that immigration and customs takes about an hour.
At about 00h00 they eventually walked through the exit and my son jumped off the baggage trolley and ran towards me while shouting dadda at the top of his voice! We both shed a tear and he held on to me for the rest of the way to the car

My wife was just as happy and we all cried off joy while embracing and being back as a family. Its been a looooong 4months but it was finally over!
We took Saturday and Sunday as recovery days and they slept, ate and slept some more, with an occasional conversation

Monday I took them around our suburb so show them the area and some shopping so the wife knows the area. we also went for our first walk on the beach but it started getting quite chilly so it was cut short. It was his birthday on the 15th (when they landed) but due to jetlag we only did his cake and candles on monday afternoon follow by a very noisy present, a police helicopter

oh the joy of the same sound over and over and over....
That night we also braai'd and my son joined us with his very own chair

Tesuday I showed them the public transport system and we took the bus to the train station. From there we took the train into Wellington and went for a walk at the wharf. We had a snack at one of the many restaurants. The plan was to explore a bit more but my son started getting tired and irritated (to much so quickly) and we took a slow walk back to the bus station and took the bus home.
Once home he helped me sand down and clean his bike and last night I could continue to paint and clear coat it as it was nice and hot. So today we will assemble it and he can take it for his first spin!
I can't believe how much he has matured in the last 4months. He is now speaking full sentenced, can say what he wants and feels like, and even put on his own shoes

My wife is still recovering from jetlag and a bit unsettled due to the new country, new house, new environment and all of a sudden not having to look after Gabe all alone anymore, not packing and sorting things out. I think it will be a while until she is fully acclimatized, but there is all the time in the world now. First order of business is to get my son into a preschool (as he gets 20hours free per week) and she can then start hunting for a half day job.
I also spotted african cucumber in our local store
