690 Dead Speedo
« on: April 30, 2018, 11:37:32 am »
My speedo stopped working. Back lights and ABS light was still working but nothing else.

Looks like water damage after standing in rain for a few days. Stripped the unit and there seems to be damage to the pc board. Cleaned up and refitted but no joy. I had some damage on the rubbers over the odo buttons and guess it leaked through that. New speedo is 5k in case anyone is wondering

Wouldn't it be cheaper just to fit a Trailtech Voyager?

Voyager costs over 6k plus 2-3 odd thousand for brackets, fitment etc. KTM unit is programmed with the mileage you had on your bike plus plug and play

I'm also worried about the quality of the rubber covers on the buttons. My 2017's ABS button already looks suspect

Mine was damaged bacause of the relocation of the speedo with the rally kit. At full lock the hand gaurd brace rubbed on it. I wouldn’t worry about it too much otherwise

Yoh, ok I didn't realize they cost that much, thought it was around 3K. Seems the speedo unit is very sensitive to water, there's threads all over on them packing up. I'll have to start wrapping mine up when it gets a wash... one day, when the Cape has water again  ::)
