Rerouting the tank balance pipe (1150 ADV)

So I got gatvol of struggling more than two months to find a quick connect for the balance pipe on my 1150 ADV. The next best option was sealing quick connects from the local Yamaha marine agent - 6mm barb and all - nifty connector, very good quality and at a good price. Only problem is that the connector is too large to fit through the frame, being blocked by the alternator.

I'm considering routing it now between the front shock and the alternator belt cover. Also adding some extra protection for the pipe in the form of those cable neatening coils. Can anybody think of a reason not to reroute?
