breedtsnek - yeah, i know, again!!

Time to test out the new handlebar risers and footpegs! Not being in the mood for a lot of dust, I decided not to join the tt ride, but rather take a gentle solo ride to include gravel from Skeerpoort to an old favorite, Breedtsnek and then down again to Magaliesburg. From Magaliesburg I took the ?backroad? that was the subject of the previous ?XXX? report. Man, the gravel roads are in good nick these days! Breedtsnek is by far in the best condition that I?ve ever seen it!
Enjoy the pics!

The road that joins the Broederstroom road (coming from Krugersdorp) with Skeerpoort:

The ?start? from Skeerpoort. From here the road pretty much runs parallel to the mountain:

I found this old bridge just off the beaten track and spent some time here. The water was just the remedy for my feet, don?t know how many disease I brought home, though?

Mmm, wonder what he/she is thinking?

Yes, we do have mountains, well, I think it?s only this one range (Magaliesberg), but if I recall correctly, it is the second oldest range after the Himalayas!

Just before the rise up the pass ? lots of burnt areas in gauteng this time of year:

Whoohoo! Always good to be at the top! Not on top, that is!

With regard to the footpegs, definitely an improvement, but I will have to get used to them still. With the handlebar risers it is easier to stand, not so much rocking with knees slightly bent, but also need to get used to it. Unfortunately, riding over the next 2 weekends is no-go

it would've been stupid on my own - i am slowly learning about stupidity. seriously, though, i only noticed yesterday the 'no entry' sign. i still want to go into the vod, but i think we should target a date and arrange with the owner. maybe ride afternoon and camp somewhere.

Lekker Wino.

Also the only mods I'm planning to do to the Dakar. Footpegs and handle bar raiser.

If I may be so presumptuous - please let me/us know when you organise this ride. I am always looking for riding areas around the city. And to do an overnight stop sound even better! Great pics though.
LR 650 - the best by far

sorry morfasie, don't have my garmap software in operation due to lack of pc. but, very easy to follow: from pta, ride to skeerpoort via harties, at the tight left bend, turn r onto gravel and follow to heart's delight. keep goung r, ignoring roads to l.  at some stage you'll hit tar, turn r and at first gravel r, turn r and again follow until a T, turn r and follow to next T, turn r and voila, on your merry way to the climb! you can go across to buffeljagsdam and then meander back to pta.
