Dash Cam for a vehicle

This may not be in the correct area but i need to get a dash cam for my daughter. She was almost taken out by a truck that jumped a red light yesterday. Would have loved to have had the evidence to nail the SOB.

Any recommendations? I believe that some of the el cheapo's tend to lose their data upon impact...not sure how true this is.
