So what was the issue right in the beginning with the flat battery on the Huskey? I recall you said something about Gps wiring...assume it was sorted. That 501 sure is the best looking bike on this tour!
It is a magnificent bike, and it weighs almost nothing.
It is also the newest bike on the trip.
Tom - the "special" battery in the bike was dead and could only be charged with some "special"charger according to the TRAX KTM workshop staff.
They also told me that they did not have such a charger in stock and that it would take several weeks to order.
I asked them if there was a normal battery replacement upon which they reluctantly gave me the part nr.
I then started phoning around and eventually found two batteries in George (at a fraction of the price of the special battery from KTM)
PK picked it up, and brought it with him to Windhoek where we wanted to replace it - only to find that the batteries were a centimeter too high (which meant that we had to remove a bracket to get it to fit. We luckily found the right battery in WH and all was sorted.
I have no idea what the problem was with his gps wiring, but it did not give any problems after he re-wired it.
