@Dwerg - how was the Leatt Body Armour - temperature wise?

It’s not the coolest but I prefer it over an adventure jacket for temperature and of course protection. I’ve used it for offroad riding, racing and some touring over the last 4 or so years and it’s saved me from injury so many times. The Leatt jacket is mesh on the torso section but not sleaves and airflow is great as long as you are moving. Sleaves are removable if it get’s too hot but I leave them on for thorn protection which they do pretty well. Not as cool as an MX shirt but I use the rear jacket pockets for sunscreen, hat and sometimes shorts and slops and a few other bits and bobs. It’s a bit less practical in terms of getting dressed and undressed compared to an adventure jacket obviously. My body armour is way past due as you can see in the pics and I’ll probably go for the Airfit Lite model this tome round for touring. Riding just with that will be the coolest protection but the thorns will stuff up the suit and your arms

I packed my Leatt 5.5 Body armour and MX shirts, but ended up only wearing it on the first day because I tend to overheat in it. Mine is a real mission to take off, especially if I've been sweating. (I also lent it to someone for an enduro race and it now has a funky smell which I've not been able to get rid of). My BMW suit gives awesome protection (apart from chest protection) and I would just take it off at longer stops to keep cool. Once moving it has fair ventilation.

Cheers - I have the Leatt 5.5 and an Adventure jacket - wondering which will be the better option for a Nam trip - this helps!!  :thumleft:

My vriend, hierdie is baie meer as net 'n RR.

Alles is klaar hier ....... moet net my bike in photoshop  :lol8:

Flipping awesome! I've put my name down for April's one.

Nou hoe de moer gaan ek wag tot dan toe? Sal maar hier moet kom perv oor die prentjies.

........but not before @Dwerg toppled over when parking his bike. Picking it up it toppled over to the other side and we noticed that the side stand bolt had snapped.

Lance's 450 had the same thing happen. It seems to be a common issue?

The Quest contestants would not be familiar with the next two legs of the trip.
They went through the Aba Huab river, past Twyfelfontein lodge onto the sand stretch that runs south to the Ugab river. It was on these sand stretches where Charl Potgieter's spectacular fall was filmed.

Canzius and Co went on the long and technical route with Bergsig, Wereldsend, Desolation Valley, The Stone Dwellings,The Huab river and the Doros Crater as via points before they turned east and finally back north to head to Twyfelfontein.
This and the following day's route was always going to be very tiring yet very rewarding. Every single hazard, obstacle and all the various riding conditions that adventure riders long for, is to be found in abundance on these two routes.

We caught up with the three stooges on the trail, and found them fixing Hennie's rear wheel. We assisted and gave them the opportunity to refresh on snacks and something cold to drink. The friendship between these three gentlemen was good to see.

We expected some very tired riders at camp that night - and got exactly what we expected...

Tyd vlieg!
