AT front discs are loose

noticed this morning my AT's both front discs are loose..... happen to anybody else ?

The "outer od" should be loose. Yes it does have floating discs.

To be honest I'm not 100% sure. I do know that it has something to do with heat dispersion and knock back on break pads. Overall better breaking ability and brake pad life on high performance bikes. Others may be able to correct me or add.

AFAIK it's mainly to manage heat expansion and dissipation better

They have floating discs in order to disperse the heat under braking. And yes they do come loose on the rivets and rattle. And eventually the inner section made out of alloy gets eaten away.  A new set from Honda R1 380.
However the rivets can be reset by somebody who works on rims and tightened up to stop the progress.
One can then import a set of floating Galfers from the US for about R4 000 or get a set of solid discs.
Happens to all upmarket bikes with floating discs.
KTM, BMW, Ducatis etc all face the same problems.
In Cape Town we have a knowlegeable person who can help.
A short term fix is to pump silicon around the rivets. How long it lasts I do not know.

Cable ties. Worked well on my 800gs.

My discs was replaced under warranty recently, they were extremely loose.
Looks like one has to have them checked on a regular basis and then have them  "tightened" from time to time otherwise the rivets wear out excessively.

btw.... floating discs shouldn't have play between the disc and the carrier.
