DR650 Slipping clutch/ replacement?
« on: June 25, 2018, 07:16:44 pm »
My DR 650ís clutch started slipping with 67000km odd on the clock after an oil change. I started using Castrol  Activa after my second gear had dificulty engaging. ( I thought maybe the oil would improve the gear change) Could the oil be a contributor or is it just time to replace the clutch? Adjustment to the clutch improved the gear change slightly but it might have been the cause of the slippage....my question actualy ..at this milage is it normal to replace the clutch. I commute 120km a day in Joburg traffic so the clutch work. Bought  the bike with 7400 km on it. He clutch cable is almost new. Any suggestions comments will be appreciated. Cedric.

I ran Actevo on my Dakar.

Clutch was fine and after next oil change it slipped immediately.

It is just work out the fresh oil is the last straw on the camel's back.

Hi, so not sure if this is the norm, but my clutch has also started slipping now at 69'000km. Haven't serviced or done anything with the oil in a while. My guess is that it's simply time to replace the clutch plates.
