701 Countershaft seal leak
« on: June 28, 2018, 04:06:13 pm »
Hi All

So I noticed a small leak on the countershaft seal. I believe it is a common issue and fixable with a new seal kit?

It is only a small leak and I am tempted to fix it myself. The bike is still under warranty, so probably need to take it to the dealer (320 km round trip  :-\).

Anyway, has anyone else had this issue? Where is the best place to order a new seal kit?

Thanks.

Common problem..... new seal kit.
Didn't know about this, new to me...
That new seal kit, is that a new type/size/different seal or is it just the same seal which you have to replace?

Jip sounds like a common problem. As far as I know, the seal kit is replaced with a new oem seal kit. I have not searched for aftermarket kits though. It is also common that the bolt holding the sprocket is not torqued correctly, causing the leak. I will check it this weekend. If it is torqued and still leaking, time for a new seal kit.

Burp, have you received your oberon slave yet?

Yes I have, quite a quick delivery.
Have not installed it yet as it will be part of a larger install, I'll put a Clake Two on my bike - which is half a day's work in itself, however I need to find an elegant solution to replace the mechanical switch on the clutch lever (which allows starting in gear).
I'll collect parts next week for this, an hydraulic pressure switch plus some Hel Brakeline adaptors which I'll have to machine first, and then install the lot.
Btw, the Oberon in only Orange to choose from, bit funny when they list it under "Husqvarna".

Seems more and more common  :deal:

Did yours ever fail catastrophically or just leak a few drops? Mine literally forms a drop after every 2/3 rides. Maybe I am worrying too much.
