Well done for not giving up.

I can see in the future there will be a auntie telling one of her favorite stories. It will start with:

"I had the coolest Auntie Bri, I remember one time, it was my birthday and we had a big party on the plaas. She arrived on a motorcycle, with half a handle bar, covered in mud!...

:sip: Well done Mc Ri va, I must admit I was a bit worried that she would kill a sheep or ostrich and use a bone to splint the handle bar.  :spitcoffee:  :3some:

Andy 66 is known for doing things like that. Ok, it was an already dead bird.  :bueller:

How many push ups can Ri do? All of them.

The definition of adventure riding for me: grit. Grit and making do with problems en route.

A lovely read (and in part riding along; know most of the route well), thank you Ri.

great reading and pics - you certainly are a talented writer - loved the bit about a 'conniption'!!!

enjoyed your writing in the Present-tense, and boy, you do not give up easily!  :thumleft:

never seen a handlebar give up like that (not on an Adventure ride, anyways...)

Great report, great that you made the party, too, when many others would have turned back/been rescued!  :thumleft:

I suspect the handlebar breaking was the cause of the accident.

You are one very tough, determined motorcyclist, but, you ignored the most important part of your toolkit-a riding buddy.I will never ride long distance gravel, with no comms,on my own.

... but then I'd never ride ...  :-[

I have many riding friends and meeting more all the time, but usually no one available where/when I'm going. Agreed though, I am seriously considering a communications or tracking system to ease my family's mind.

Not giving up riding though  :ricky:

Another thread asks :-

What defines a good adventure bike rider?  THIS DOES!

Amazing Ri, big respect!  :notworthy:

Thanks @jaybiker! You're an inspiration - if you can still ride solo at age 74, then really I have no excuse

It reminds me of that old movie " A funny thing happened on the way to the forum " back in the 60's.
