R.I.P. William Dunlop
« on: July 07, 2018, 09:13:15 pm »
William Dunlop passed away from injuries sustained when he crashed his motorcycle during practice for tomorrow's Skerries 100 Road Race in Dublin Ireland.  William is the son of Robert who died during a race in 2008 and nephew to Joey who died after a crash in Estonia.

RIP William.

Very sad.

As much as I admire or rather appreciate the goons on these riders, I don't think these races are a good thing at all. From your post this family has lost 3 members already. Not worth it  ???
But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.

RIP another Dunlop

I think bikes have become too fast for street racing

My first thought is also that the bikes are becoming too fast for this sort of racing, but if we look at the fatalities over the years, during the Isle of Man TT, it doesn't seem  that way.

I believe he didn't race the TT this year as his girlfriend is pregnant, RIP. :'(
When is this "Old enough to know better" supposed to kick in?

Yes.  He was at the TT and was going to race, but then during practice week his girlfriend developed some health issues, so he withdrew from the TT to go and support her.
