I believe they picked up fuel pump problems with the Husky on day 1.
Hard luck.

All fixed and they on their way again. Fuel filter was the culprit.

Geez. That is the third fuel pump/failure issue I have read about on the 701 within a week? Would love to hear more details. Did they have any fuel filter socks installed in the tank? It looks like these fuel pumps/filters are super sensitive to dirty fuel. :eek7:

Guglatech filter is the answer. Ja.
Yes, we ordered Guglatech specifically for the 701 3-month back, they never arrived (we carry most EVERYTHING else in Guglatech...), so wrote to importers of Guglatech, who replied as follows:
>HI Chris,
The reason behind the delay in development is that we are struggling with a bullet proof design to ensure that our filter has longevity inside the 701 tank. Given the design on the 701s fuel cap, it is very difficult to ensure a tight and secure fitment of our product.
We have recommended that clients replace the 701 fuel cap with an Acerbis or similar cap and use the 38/40mm filter we supply for the housing. This means a bullet proof filter in a simple yet effective housing.  It seems to be the solution for a lot of 701 owners as there might be cap problems on extended trips.

Thanks Chris for the feedback. I saw a video on youtube where the guy suggested shaving the oem fuel cap or the filter neck to ensure it closes once the filter has been installed in the tank. Still better than being stranded next to the road due to a filter or pump that packed up in my opinion.

We are back in Gauteng :) Trip did not go quite as intended, but we will be back next year to finish the rest of the route! I have AMAZING video footage and photos of some of the riding we did and will be sharing it as soon as I get a chance. Lots of video to edit :D

www(whatwentwrong)?.

First it was the fuel filter, which we sorted out, I'll get to that in the RR.  And then after that my key broke off inside the fuelcap, just after we did the most epic riding to Palmwag :( We found out the hard way that the Husky 701's fuelcaps are clearly not of a very good design.

Where's Flying Brick, is there an aftermarket cap, Acerbis or so? :P
