Botswana license requirements?

Howdy

Does anyone perhaps know what Botswana requires in terms of a bike license?  I have just recently acquired my learner's license.  Will this suffice?

This topic has been done to death already, short answer - NO.
A learners is NOT valid in Botswana or any other country around SA, some will tell you otherwise, phone their Embassy if in doubt.

Adventurer is correct. A learners will NOT be accepted
Even though the border officials do not always check for licences, the police at the innumerable checkpoints do. So I wouldn't even TRY to go with a learners only.

I went with a learners only to Mozambique.

I can honestley say that a learners is not valid outside SA, but I did manage to bribe the police with Oros and a few left over bread bunns.

I was just lucky.

+1 big time and don't even think of giving the cops in Bots any sh%t. You will spend time in a small room talking about how you messed up a good holiday.

Yip, I was with Jabo and it was a fight! Eventually meant that they f-up our sand ride togehter!!

I rode a bike here for 5 years without a license at all and did not cost me too may bribes either. hehe

Yep. I agree. Do not mess with the cops or speed limits in Botswana. They Will lock you up and forget about you.
