So, I've never owned a bike that was not modified to some degree. The new Africa Twin is no different.
I made essentially tree mods to the bike to improve the looks and make it appear more aggressive. I fitted a high front fender kit, fitted some rear luggage racks and lifted the number plate.
Front Fender Kit
The front fender kit is produced by Africa-ADV.com located in Cape Town. This consists of the main aluminium bracket, new stainless steel hydraulic lines and an assortment of brackets and fasteners. The kit is designed to hold KTM 690 Enduro or SM front fenders and SX fork protectors.
You need to remove the existing fender and front hydraulic lines. The new fork protectors and hydraulic guides and lines are installed and the brakes bled. Then the bracket is fitted below the triple clamp, the fender is fitted and the installation is neatened up.
Luggage Plates
The luggage plated are cut from 4.5 mm aluminium and hard anodised. The production plates do have countersunk mounting holes and not the button head buts in these photos. The lower luggage plate fits into the existing rear seat mounting points and is adjustable depending on the rear hight.
Number Plate
The numberplate mod is quite simple. remove the rear side cover and carrier. Then remove the upper part of the mudguard. remove all the reusable bits. cut below the inner support frame below the lower bolt hols. Further cut diagonally upwards towards the tail light to in line with the front of the indent. Clean and refit.
Thats it for the day...
