THE SMALL WORLD WE LIVE IN
« on: August 21, 2018, 07:56:14 pm »
Ok, sometimes I got F'all to do and then I read the dictionary.  Sometimes the difference between life and death is one letter.

Today I could not find the dictionary and decided to read the Startline motorcycle parts Catalog.  With all the knowledge gained I just could not stop. It is more addictive than a soapie.

Then on to bigger chalange. The Autozone online catalog.  >:D  Blissem, what an eye opener.

And then.  This looks EXACTLY like the BMW F800 thermostat.  Nogal for another German vehicle.

http://autozone.co.za/products/categories/hard-parts-and-engine-parts/thermostat-vw/

Just shows, the world is too small to do 'your own thing'

Pic.  The culprit.

Ok, so back to the reading.  >:D

You find quite a lot of it out there. I'm on a mission when it comes to cheaper replacement parts and have an extensive list for the KLR.

The KLR uses the same shims as the Funduro -  much cheaper to buy from BMW..
The KLR uses the same carb diaphragm as the Harley 883 Sportster - much cheaper to buy from Harley!
I can go on and on....
Don't look back, that's not where you're going.

And the 1984 Honda XL 600 front caliper piston that Honda claims to be discontinued......found that the old Gold Wings had the same part and those are still available... Crazy.

I WOULD RATHER BE AN HONEST ASSHOLE .... THAN A FLIPPEN LIAR !

I have Hyundai Elantra valves in mine. And we've used VR6 (expensive) or Nissan Sentra (cheaper) , depending on availability. Some engineering required though
