Bluebull Iím still not sure how it happened, I think I was lucky and in the right place at the right time

Race day 2
We where up early to watch the first bikes off

Sun comes up and it gets hot pretty quickly

Watched the first cars leave, this guy is really quick and a cool guy

We than drove to next bivouac
This tunnel was on the road, the Peugeotís where so wide they couldnít fit

Lots of rolled cars, it was a yard sale

Ktm factory pits

Honda

Next morning was the beach start

We got a great spot and flew the flag

Pretty dusty and hard working following, we waited here for hours for the first Bikeís . It was super windy and dusty

The eventual winner getting a interview, note the rider camper behind him . Two guys share a camper

Darryl is a legend and really helped us, we meet the whole factory team

Nassir was a really cool guy, super friendly .
He told us  ďdonít worry boys, tomorrow Iíll leave my brain in the camper , Iím going flat outĒ

Our last night

Our last breakfast in the bivouac

Went we to say cheers to Darryl, but he was having his own issues

As it was finally over , to start the long trip home.

It was the BEST - worst thing Iíve ever done,
Got home with the mission to get to Dakar 2019
I started selling things as soon as I got home, my house basically became a division of BID OR BUY.

More next time of the Dakar qualifier in Morroco

Evening Girls and Gents

Itís a rainy day here in KZN , and Iím up early in the morning to ride.

Part of getting Dakar is you need to qualify, I probably would have qualified with the Amageza (which was 2014, not 2013 as I thought).
But didnít want to take a chance , I also wanted more experience.
So headed off to Morroco for Merzouga Rally.

Itís run by the Dakar ASO, so you get a discount on your Dakar entry if you enter,

Myself, Kenny, Ryan Bland and Shane Nell all went with a package from Bart - BSA RACING

After a few flights we were in the town of Merzouga
And got to meet our bikes

Pretty quickly we all were dressed and ready to test the bikes in the dunes

There is a huge sand pit to play

Kenny

Having fun and trying to get used to body amour

2 days test and playing in the sand we were ready to go

Marking our first roadbook

Ready for race stage one

Kenny and Wessel Pittens
He is Dutch 2x motocross and 2x Enduro champ
He will also be doing Dakar 2019

I made a really rookie error in loading my roadbook .
I thought I would put in in my jacket and sort it out at the refuel.
Not thinking it would look like toilet paper by the time I got there.
Lucky it was a loop stage and I managed to get someoneís roadbook who had finished .

So I  turned open  the tap on the 2nd loop , putting the 52mm cone valve to work

My baby for the week

Me and Kenny at the start of the marathon stage

Our accommodation in the marathon stage

Loading our roadbooks, Kenny fell in love with the new spec bike

Toby loading his roadbook, all the guys are really friendly

Getting dressed in the marathon bivouac

A cool pic of me in the dunes

Pretty happy to finish , took it easy and tried to learn as much as possible, ended up 33 of 84 riders.
Better than expected considered all the pro teams were there

Been training hard, and shuffling some plans to be at Tankwa in 2 weeks.
Donny is being a champ and helping take me and my bike from Cape Town (courier my bike there)

Also trying to get to Namibia for sand practice, itís a tough year.
You have to juggle work, training ,family and fund raising.
But really excited to have the opportunity

ďThe hardest part of Dakar,  is getting to DakarĒ
Joey Evans has told us

Fantastic, Stuart!!! You'll be part of a load of SAns who have distinguished themselves in this epic race. But don't let all that bother you too much - just get in the moment and enjoy every second. It is a dream many millions would love to live! At least we'll get a chance to share the ride with you.  :thumleft: :thumleft: :thumleft:

Sorry I been quite for a while.
Itís really intense training/working/family time.

It feels like I live in a train station and a different train leaves every 10 minutes

So Tankwa was a good training event.
Donny really helped us , and Kenny and I  flew down to Cape Town

We were quickly on the road.
Donny gave me the tour of Calvinia and got to see the famous post box

I had the full Moto Malle experience thanks to Donny
With the exact tent and sleeping mattress Iíll use

The first morning was pretty cold, first bike off was 6:30 am.
A quick team photo before we left

A bad selfie before we start the first stage after 140km liaison

Unfortunately I didnít take enough photos
The day went ok, the roadbook missed some detail and missed a few turns, but a good learning curve how to keep claim when completely lost

Donny had some issues on day 2, a 400km off-road stage

I was more moral support, but he got it going after about 20 minutes

I ended up 2nd Rally bike on the last day, and 3rd overall in Rally.
Pretty happy with that as I was only a proper Rally bike that is 145kg without fuel.
Tough competing against 500ís with bolt on roadbook.

Well done to Clive and his team for the huge effort they put in.
Thanks to Donny, Shane Nell (we bummed lots of stuff from his camp) and eddy2race (really great help in the pits)

A local brought there Africa- burn car for a drive

Sorry itís been so long since last update .
Had some serious issue with technology and data (50 gigs disappeared in 3 days )

I also had a 2 week business trip to China , so to say the least itís been crazy .

Really feel like Iím running out of time , 54 days till race day .

So some really great news , a brand new spec bike has become available to rent .
Really happy about it

Kenny went to visit her

Getting serious race prep .
Bartís team does a epic job at race prep .
Over 40 Labour hrs per bike , incredible attention to details , which will give me peace of mind in Originals by Motul .

Stopped by in JHB to meet with potential sponsors, and some great news come later this week .
I also got to spend time with Joey Evans and Lyndon Poskit

And meet Basil of coarse

After that I  ended up doing a last minute trip to Namibia with Ross Branch last week .
Got to try the new bike , and practice more in the dunes

Than the great news , race numbers came out for Dakar .
Itís so crazy real , Iíve always want this but it almost feels unreal Iíll be racing Dakar .
A life long dream

Really cool number
And still have space for a title sponsor , so donít miss out on an awesome opportunity.

So the next few weeks , Iíll be training for my 13th Roof of Africa
Than Silver Roof , race no 125

Than more training and I fly out to Dakar 2019

Crazy

Excellent man! 100 is a great Number, Stuart. :hello2:

We are cheering you to the start line.

You know this but its always worth repeating: Just please remember: take it easy on the bike training, don't crash now....

By the way what work do you do?
