The absence of a kick starter on my Husqvarna 501 is something that has bothered me since getting the bike and I've posted on another thread that I see it as a shortcoming on this bike. I've been left stranded twice because of battery that wasn't strong enough to start the bike.
My question: Firstly, would a kick start have been able to start the bike in similar circumstances? Secondly, is a kick start even necessary on modern dirtbikes?
