So I tried earlier in the year to sell my LC Trophy, took it off the market and recently re-advertised it. I assumed the market was just down but this time round I have comments that the LC's are unreliable and problematic. Mines a 2015 trophy and I havent had a single issue, I not heavy off-road but do a fair amount of dirt, and while I was living in Cape Town commuted daily?

I have only done 30k km's and in the last year only 3000km, hence looking to sell.

What am I oblivious to?

The wife also has one that she was thinking of selling, talked to Peet  ( PC2E) and he recons that the Trophy is a bit of a niche bike. Not for everyone because of the bike being very basic
Then : RD50  550 Four  900F   CBX  CBX Prolink XL 500 XR 500  CR 450  MTX 200  916 BIP

Now :  1100RC  R100 RT    1098  RGV 250  KTM 495  R 1200GS ADV    KLR650

Also absolutely no problem here. Best bike out there now and at any given time.....

What he said.

Ive put close to 40k km on mine this year. Only issues had was the two TPM's
And being out of warrantee, Donford CT still replaced the parts for free. I paid labour.
You are a poor example, never home and leave your children and wife destitute while you eat muffins at Donfords under the pretext of working.

If I was in the market for an LC I would buy yours with my eyes closed.

Market just seems very depressed at the moment. Leave at a dealer as a sell on behalf and see what happens. Sometimes the convenience of having an F&I on hand when somebody is interested helps.
Pass this way once!

My 2014 GSA LC
The front shock went at 20 000kms, (3 months of riding). Replaced under warrantee. First LC shock to leak in the world.
Headlight got slight dust/water marks inside and was replaced under warrantee.  As they where curious what was happening to the light.
Front brake pipe was replaced as the clear plastic coating discoloured in one area.
My son took over the bike 2016.
fork fix done.
The battery packed up in 2018 after 4 years. replaced.
Sold the bike 2018, with 70 000kms of trouble free ridding.
Bike is now in joberg with orange crash bars and leather seat!!

My 2nd, 2016 GSA crash bars rusted, replaced under warrantee.
Son owns it.  No problems.
forks fix done.

My 3rd GSA LC 2018 tft bike, rims replaced under warrantee manufacture fault.

So nothing major, just minor/micky mouse stuff, certainly not problematic.  Impressed they changed the parts.

Great family 4x4 accommodation ... see Facebook, Google maps and airbnb.. Mkulu Kei / Wild Wind Ranch

1 x 2014 LC (wife's) now on 55000km absolutely problem free.
1 x 2014 LC (mine) sold on 65000km.  Had a few initial glitches, all solved by dealer under warranty.  (Battery, right side switches, stalling issue).
1 x 2015 LC (mine) now on 30000km absolutely problem free.
Curious why you sold your 2014 and just bought another LC?

First LC shock to leak in the world

Amazing, there's still people out there that believe these lines?
If you do then I can introduce you to the first chap who had a (rather serious!) problem with the cardan drive.
Oh, he's a Saffer too, just a coincidence btw  ;)
Let's hear it, who else was the first to have a problem with <any part of the bike>?

LC's are good bikes if only for the reason that the entire bike was mirrored (drive opposite side) / complete engine&gearbox changed/redesigned / multiplate clutch / and more, this all whilst keeping the bike looking near identical, an impressive feat - and nigh on no problems.
The reason why good bikes are less worth used (this is a worldwide trend) is that more people can & prefer to buy new, and do this, hence the used market is a buyer's one. Biking has become a bit elitist, they're expensive. They're updated after 2 years and people replace theirs, of course loosing monies to the used market - get used to it  8)

This ties in well with my above post:

Curious why you sold your 2014 and just bought another LC?

65000km: 25% of reason
Serious backside itch for a red one:  50% of the reason
Really, really good deal: 25% of the reason
