Sunday morning we woke up to beautiful sunny weather and I decided to take my boy fishing for the day.
Packed my tackle box, some water and muffins for snacks into my newly acquired Nomad bike bag and tied it down to the back of the DR along with a couple of bass spinning rods.
Loaded the little guy onto the back and headed out of town towards Rawsonville on the Nekkies Road until we reached the Lowshoek turnoff wich takes you straight up to the gate where the tar ends and the Stettynkloof fun begins.
Took it slow and steady up the kloof as the road surface is a mix of sandy loose gravel and lots of corrugation. The road consists of a 16km gravel pass that leads you through the kloof and up to the Stettyn Dam hidden in the Hawequas Mountains.
We got to the dam unloaded the bike and proceeded to spin for bass for about two hours before throwing in the towel, no fish caught.....
The sun was shining down but a very strong cold wind came tearing from further up the kloof and over the dam towards us, this saw us spending most of our session in one small corner of the dam hiding from the wind and presumably this wind and cold air causing a drop in tempretare and air pressure was the cause of us not catching anything ......[emoji6]
We packed everything back on the bike and headed back down the kloof again stopping every now and then to take in some views and take a few photos.
Before reaching town on our way back I turned of the tar again onto a gravel road that runs along the Breede River and also has a few small roads branching out into the veld, some nice jeeptrack to play on. We use to come mess around in the mud here with my Baja Bug years ago.
From here we headed back to town and home after a fun day on the bike. Just me and my boy spending some quality time doing things we love.
And when you get two thumbs up you know your doing it right.[emoji41]
