How is the foot @Dwerg ?
Are you able to ride or walk yet?

I can yes but it still gets painful so I am in the moon boot and using one crutch. As soon as the wounds are healed I will go for a bike ride. I might need to have the screws removed at some point which will put me off the bike again for a while.

Golf with DSG gearbox. Had to buy it because I sold my Grand Vitara earlier this year. Good thing because that V6 would’ve killed my budget on the PTA-JHB commute

Just the foot healing itself naturally. Well, with the help of some medicine stuff the wound care nurses apply to it twice weekly.

Already getting itchy to ride. Started my bikes today to make sure the batteries are all good when I’m ready to go for a ride :ricky:

luckily I only do Petervale Woodmead commute or the Prado V6 would have the same effect😳
Dear Santa, last year you got me a Sweater for Xmas, this year I would prefer a Moaner or a Screamer please.

Blixem Dwerg!
Glad to see you are healing well.
I have a similar story though I did not share when it happened.
Almost 4 years ago I fell off my CRF250L in Moz. Wearing track shoes, also doing about 30kph, rocky road with a high middle mannetjie, I was standing on the pegs watching a small herd of elephant bulls crossing the road in front of me.
I clipped a round rock about the size of a soccer ball and instantly lost the front end.
I came down hard on the middlemannetjie with the bike on top of my right leg, skidded about 10m before it stopped.
I had to yank my foot out from under the bike and it was immediately obvious that it was bad. Shoe had come off and foot at funny angle.
My handheld radio was still on my belt and I called it in. Help took about 30 minutes to arrive. I lay on my back with the foot elevated and waited it out, watching the ellies browsing 20m from me.
This happened at about noon, I got a cruiser ride back to base, another cruiser ride to the KNP fence on top of the Lebombos then a chopper casevac to Nelspruit mediclinic, arrived there early evening.
Emergency theatre almost straight after that to stabilize the foot.
Injuries; dislocated ankle, degloved foot sole with the tear just above the sole on the outside from back of heel to just behind the little toe.
But that was just the beginning.
Like you, I suffered necrosis.
In total 3 theatre visits under general anisthetic, many weeks of vacuum dressing therapy to get new flesh to grow then a skin graft to cover.
Almost 3 months to the day before I could go back to work.
Though disfigured and with the sole offset now I am happy that I still have my foot.
I still ride my bikes, though a lot more careful now.
ATGATT? To be honest no, but a lot more than before.

This post always has me thinking of how we ride our MTB's with hardly any protective gear.
