Which Tent? AGAIN - :(
« on: October 12, 2018, 02:59:41 pm »
Ok i know this has been discussed many time but tech stuff change  :patch:
My new 2m Atg Stretcher does not really fit into my old 2m 360deg tent AND i am planning a fairly extensive trip to do the TAT next year so: I WANT A NEW TENT  :lol8:
Needs to be 3kg or less, good quality, 2 person to cater for stuff, 3 season should be ok.
Currently i am leaning towards the underneath First Ascent Starlight II going for R1600 but any recommendations will be appreciated.
Tx

Sometimes you don't need a plan, just balls :)
I'd rather ... be riding my motorcycle and thinking about God than sitting ... in Church and thinking about my motorcycle.

The Starlight 3 is big enough for you and your gear. I picked one up at CUM on special for 1399 a year ago. Its easy to set up and not too heavy.

I know weight is important however should you be tempted, I have one of these (https://www.capeunionmart.co.za/k-way-panorama-3-person-tent) in great condition for sale for R850.

Loaned one to a friend who lost it and as I bought another randomly found it.

My problem with these type of dome tents is the fact that the poles are made out of fiberglass. This is all good and well but on a bike (especially offroad and lots of gravel) they rattle like crazy, this causes the poles to become brittle and they shatter when they are put under stress (wind etc).

Maybe putting something between them and cable tying them together might help.
