There was a time when KTM's air filters were found wanting, and required some intervention to improve their performance

3 Years ago I asked a person at Nampo about this, and he showed me how additional air filtration was fitted at the front of the air intakes, to act as an initial scrubber

I was therefore surprised to read in the October BikeSA about Nick Yell's tour to Gamkaskloof, and his touring mate's problems with a 1090KTM. One morning the bike refused to start, and when they phoned around for assistance, was told to tow-start the bike, because it is a known problem that is caused by dust on the valves ?!. For the remainder of the trip, the KLR had to tow-start the KTM every morning.

How the heck does the dust get there ? Has KTM still not solve their air filtration issue ? In this day and age, air filtration should be effective, irrespective of make or model
