Mitas E07 rear tyre failure
« on: November 05, 2018, 08:01:41 pm »
Anyone had any issues with the new design EO7 . I had to replace a tyre due to it being sliced or cracked badly . Got a hole that caused me serious upset as a 3h30min journey took 8 hour's and 6 plugs by the time I reached my destination.

My rear tyre is 2200 km's old, done to trips and it's showing worrying signs of cracking.

I also put the new design E-07 on at the back about a 1000 km ago and is watching this thread with interest ..............
The E07 on the front is constantly losing about 0.2 bar per week, unlike the Heidi I had just before it ...........

Didn't the old E-07 crack as well? The one before the stripe?

Few very small ones, but this tyre is concerning me, cracks are quite big

I've done about 7500 Kilos with mine, used about 60% of the thread. This included a 4500 around trip to Swakop (all tar). the only problem my front wheel lost about .1 bar every 100 Km in the beginning. Find out my rim was slighty bend, replaced the rim and no problems from there. Bike 1200 GSA.

I never even got 2000km on the rear . Fitted a Eo7 this time with the yellow stripe and it seems to be better than the previous one . Think that it might just be a problematic batch . Unfortunately I was in the cape when the tyre went for a ball so I could not take it straight back to bikers warehouse.  Whould have been nice if the salesman could have told me that there were x2 variations of the tyre .

Allen and I did 5 Nam trips with the E07 rear, nearly all showed some or other sign of small cracks but all were good tyres. The new big block E07 had some issues but other guys had problem free long distance trips, like to Malawi recently.

The front E07 needs a tube I believe.

Like I said my new E07 has done 3000km already and is fantastic.  Not a mark on it yet and I have done a few hundred km of gravel.  Maybe just that tyre or batch .

Mine has done 12500 kays (on 660), trouble free - but with tubes. I try to keep the pressure at around 2 bar, little more when required either laden, or long tar stretches.

Still in absolute perfect nick - although almost finished, kla, pilile ...

I was wondering is it possible that there might be a way to run your new tire in that you need to go slow the first 100 kL then fast and slow that your tire temp do not go to high in the first 500 kL or less and that the tire have to cure is there some one out there that can help here or is it just n muf

Of course yes.

It must go through a few heat cycles, before you can start to hammer the tyre.

Even riding fast and slow then stop and fast and slow then stop will help the situation.

If you hammer it from day one, it wont last as its suppose to, en that is also when you see knobbly tyres that looses knobs completely.

Running a tyre at low pressure and high speed is a killer also.
