Local Super Motard Racing
« on: November 06, 2018, 08:34:50 am »
The local short circuit scene is growing massively and this year was my first year racing a super motard.
Most fun on 2 wheels ever.

We do not have gravel/tar tracks in the series at this stage. All on tar at this stage.

I race an old RMZ 450 converted as a motard.

Superbike Mag is hosting the races. Clinton is doing a great job promoting and organizing the races.
So far there are a few circuits we race at through out the country all on short circuits. Zwartkops, Vereegening, Polokwane, iDube.
The entry is R800 per race.

There are quite a few different classes. SM1, SM1X, SM2 and then mini super motards, pocket bikes, cbr 150 and the clubman class.
We had close to 100 entries each race with just the Large super motards

Had a couple of races in 2012....

Absolute blast!!!!!

Then there were some accusations of cheating at Pine Town and it all fell flat.

Glad to hear it is on the up again!!

'70 Triumph Bonneville 650 T120, '84 Honda VF 1000 RE, '01 Yamaha YZ 250 N, '12 Honda XR 650 L, '14 Honda NC 750 X

If I REALLY wanted to ride a BMW, I would join the Tshwane Metro.

The Thunderbike series is dwindling and costing a fortune to race.
So most of the SBK guys are coming over to the Super Motard racing as well

I am selling my RMZ to upgrade a bit. Wanting to take the sport a bit more serious than what I anticipated I would.

This is the best way to get into fun and affordable racing in a scene that is growing every single race and hope that someone on here might want to get into it!

Very true. Such a cheap and fun way to get into racing. Selling my RMZ Race Ready. Hopefully someone that wants to get into racing will pick it up and join us!

The next race this Saturday at VKC in Vereniging is going to be great. Hopefully the rain just holds out a bit!
It is really a very fast track(as far as short circuit racing goes)

Had one ride on the CRF before the race, so should be interesting!
