So the bike is back home with me,  with a couple of niggles i need to sort.

First:

The pressure switch for the rear brakes, when n bridge the connection the brake lights comes on,  when u test the switch for continuity there is none, when I test OHM's I get zero, when lever is pressed i get a slight jump but goes back to zero again, am i correct in saying the switch is buggered?

Second:

due for new Chain and sprockets, which is a good combo to run? thinking 16/42

16/42 is the OEM combo which I think works fine.

Below is the STARTLINE part numbers FYI.  I find their steel sprockets well priced and quality not bad at all.  You can also get a 520 SFR X or O ring chain from them.

Some guys have run the 17 front with not too much compromise on top speed.  With a 110 link chain they’re apparently interchangeable should you want to try both and see which works best for you.

Take your brake switch apart and give it a good clean before replacing it.  I’ve had it on my 990 that a little bit of dirt/corrosion prevents contact.

Thanks Kobus

Startline used to my my first point of contact, but a local bearing/oil supplier sold me chain and sprockets a while ago at very good prices.

If they can’t help I will get in touch with Startline.

Will strip the pressure switch and see. Suspect it might be a good time for some fresh fluids as well.

Did my first 2 day trip with a mate on a GS 800  from Sasolburg to Clarens, over OId Mill slept over at Golden Gate Chalets, and back.

The bike behaved brilliantly, except that I need a new battery,  the Old Mill pass was fairly easy.  The long range tank is awesome, the suspension worked perfectly, the Giant Loop on the pannier rack worked nicely.

Below some pictures

I have an issue with my center stand not staying in the stowed position, it's very loose, not sure if it has the wrong spring size on.

I also received a loose side stand with the bike, but when I tried to fit it, it looked like there was some stuff missing, can someone please share some close-up photos of their center stand springs and side stand where it attaches to the frame?

Thanks
