What a day!! Da Bigboy-en-all run!
« on: October 04, 2008, 09:40:41 pm »
When the biking bug bites you, you're in for some serious trouble. Met people at the kids school and we became friends, and in one weeks time he bought 2 100cc Pitbikes and a 125cc and today we went for our first ride.

WE chose the Alberton R59 ride as it was near to us, and set off at 09h00. I was so worried about every one having a helmet I forgot mine at home! And so had to ride with just my Cordura on!!

Rudi's laaities, 10, 11 and 13 was taught to ride this week, so I knew it was going to be quite a job to ensure all went well, which it did.

Some photies

The laaities enjoyed it a lot, but it was also sapping on their energy as they were not use to this. The road incorporated technical stuff, rocks, gutters, bump, you name it, it was there. Ettiene, who actually rode my laaities PW80, soon got the hang, and had a fall, but only because his juice was finished and he couldn't ride himself out of the sh$t.

Corne, who had a fall the previous day was very wary, but also came down. Luckily I took Wiahn's chest protector with. He himself wasn't there. They're on leave with their dad. The protector absorbed a nasty blow to the chest when he came down, but he was spooked. We rode all the way to the block house were we had some thing to eat, and then we returned.

I must admit.I was pleasantly surprised by the XTG. It never once bottomed out, even after Douanne, the 13 year old laaitie, rode back with me.

As we returned, Corne picked up a puncture, and we had no tools. I only had my tubeless repair kit there, but that was of no value.

Don't badmouth a quad again. We used my Ozark as a recovery vehicle. We tipped it to get all the juice back into the blue Jerry can, then strapped the Pit bike to the rear rack, loaded Corne who was smaller behind Junior on the quad, and Douanne got on the back of the XTG with me. The first part of the Alberton section is very bouncy, Adventure will vouch for that. Douanne and myself came down that section doing 50 - 60 km/h without the XTG bottoming out. I was very shaffed with this.

When we got back to the airfield, we packed and returned home, the laaities sommer passing out in the back of the bakkie already. But, all in all we had a pleasant day, introduced the okes to riding, and enjoyed it a lot.

Sean, you'll be amazed what these pitbikes can do. The 125 was amazingly agile, but for an adult I'll recommend the 150cc with the bigger wheels. Rudi is 105kg, bout 1.95m and he rode the 125.

It was the original on the 100cc, I heard they are quite soft. The 100cc is also quite powerful and semi auto 3 speed.
