When the Swazi's travelled down the escarpment to the Lowveld at the turn of the century they said "Shiyalongubo" (Leave your blankets up here, as you wont be needing them down in the Lowveld) and so the original footpath which eventually became a road -forged by an enterprising local, Bob Pettigrew, adopted the somewhat of a tongue-twister African name permanently. The pass is not that difficult but it can be fun in the wet stuff. Stunning scenery and gold mining history makes this a bucket list pass and if you enjoy small-mouth bass fishing, the dam at the end of the pass is an additional attraction. This pass was first submitted to us by a Wild Dogs member, Alwyn Engelbrecht.

Review the pass, watch the video and a whole lot more via this link: https://bit.ly/2Q41Wpm

It remains open for 1 week.

From the team at Mountain Passes South Africa we wish all Wild Dogs members a Voorspoedige Nuwe Jaar!
