Have you taken delivery of the R1250GS?
« on: January 24, 2019, 08:17:29 am »
The bikes are here! Have you got yours already? What are your initial impressions? Would like some impartial feedback from the 'dogs' already riding these bikes.

No, I won't be taking delivery of mine. At R300k a bike, clean without extras, I think I will wait for the second hand market.

Due to me having to solve the heat issue on my 2017 myself and BMW's total lack of interest and the possibity of it being worse on the 1250 due to new regulations, I have removed my name off of the list.
Also I dont know if putting in around R100k by trading in my one year old bike is really worth it.

Still have the itch though.  :lol8:

When a proud and broke new owner has just paid R300k for his new bike, do you think you're going to get an unbiased, impartial feedback on it?

I don't think so.  ???

Has anyone got confirmed pricing yet? I have been told the GS is R270 but have not heard what the GSA is.

I would keep my panniers and transfer them across.

73 Peanut - I dont think so. guys (like me) will just keep their old bikes.

At under R200k, the 1090 R is awesome value for money.

Back on topic.
According to sales this is the best big adventure bike out there for some time and they just improved on it BUT is it enough to justify the price percentage increase? It looks the same, feels the same (marginal performance added). All the added features are long time standard on other brands.

R270k as previously thrown out there might be ok in my view. Will still like to take it for a spin though.

Review I saw showed a big performance improvement, especially at low rpm. I like it.

But new 1290 will be interesting

But the next morning you will wake up and have a BMW in your garage.

Except for going dark and riding a KTM 990 for a while, I have only ever had Beemers.

I have thus far always traded in old bike and replaced with a new one almost every year or 18 months.

But, with the prices going up the way they do, I can honestly say I don't think it is any longer good value for money.

BMW I think have now priced themselves out of the affordable market - really....

It is now that I start thinking of rather looking at the 1290.

The launch of the BMW 1250 is today ay 09h00 - maybe I must go to the launch, and then stop at KTM and look at the 1290?  :laughing4:
