Is BSA to be revived?
« on: January 27, 2019, 02:23:01 pm »
Mahindra bought the rights to the BSA brand in October 2016 with plans to start building new BSA motorcycles in India starting in 2019. They'll be badged as BSAs, and there probably won't be any visible markings on it indicating its Mahindra origins. Or any visible oil leaks?

Here are some serving suggestions:

Most certainly can:
The three things you need to fix anything in the universe: duct tape, WD-40 and a hammer.  If it moves and it shouldn't, use the duct tape.  If it doesn't move and it should, use the WD-40.  Otherwise use the hammer.

BSA has been revived before, at least a couple of times but sadly in each case the revivals came to naught.

What a shame though that the concept in the second pic could never become reality today.

With that original 'silencer', and the only 'cat' being probably the one swallowed into that open carburettor!    :drif: :drif:

Remember Mahindra owns landrover and a few other quality car manufactures. Sorry not Mahindra it's Tata....... .The company is owned by Tata which is an Indian based industrial group which bought the Jaguar Land Rover from Ford in 2008.

Landrover doing well at the moment, they have had LR for a few years now.

so Mahindra making motorbikes why not, It could be opening a door to something bigger and better, not just the old BSA's.

Tata Motors of India and a consortium comprising Mahindra and a few other companies..........so Mahindra or Tata, whatever its Indian.

"The Mahindra Group is an Indian multinational conglomerate holding company headquartered at Mahindra Towers in Mumbai, with operations in over 100 countries around the globe. The group has a presence in aerospace, agribusiness, aftermarket, automotive, components, construction equipment, defence, energy, farm equipment, finance and insurance, industrial equipment, information technology, leisure and hospitality, logistics, real estate, retail, and two wheelers. It is considered to be one of the most reputable Indian industrial houses[1] with market leadership in utility vehicles[2] as well as tractors in India"

Well with Indian ownership of 48% in KTM AG and BMW AG building a lot of its vehicles (and some bikes) in India, what options are we left with? Go Chinese? Had the Chinese bought the BSA marque, chances are the lettering would turn out all flowery and stuff. With something “wall” added thereto. Then I’d rather go with the Indians. It looks like at least they will honour the BSA logo.

A revived nameplate isnt the same, never will, ——- only in the name.

Look at Indian, they make nice looking motorcycles, but the “chain” has been broken. The same with BSA. Its a totally different company if it starts again.

Land Rover and Aston are different. Yhese companies were never defunct or seized to exist. They were kept alive and constantly running with the same people working there and sharing their knowledge.

They have been running a couple of bikes in Moto3 for a few years now...

Darryn Binder piloted one 3 odd years ago...

True.  Since Mahindra now owns the controlling share in Peugeot it makes sense.

In fact, in the last year Mahindra participated in Moto 3, they entered two Mahindras badged Peugeot.

I think the Gold Star is a good name to start with and it's nicely contemporaneous with jaybikers' Kinks reference.
The dog that caught the car. What now?
