See there is a few vlbikes on the trailer, I will come and ride them free of charge and pay my own petrol. Will also make coffee on demand and wash bikes :thumleft:

Enjoy the trip!

Thanks Antonie and trust me, we are just as envious of the riders.  Due to the insurance terms on the European bikes, we are not allowed to ride any of the bikes either.

No such thing as a stupid question.  They actually carry quite a bit of luggage with them.  The backup vehicle with the luggage is at the back, just in front of us.  When they get to the hotel they have a set of clothes they can change into so long.

The event is also a marketing campaign for Honda and they want to showcase their accessory/product range.

I stand to be corrected, but I counted about 7 or 8 DCTs, the rest is all manual.

Day 3 - Sani to Tiffindell (345km)

OK, na n koppie koffie kan ons seker maar gou die dag se gebeurtenisse vasvat.

We woke this morning with lots of mist at the foot of Sani pass.

This sort of expressed my mood after little sleep the previous night.  With no time to be miserable, I quickly pulled myself towards myself and after a quick shower and a cup of coffee we were ready for whatever the day might bring.

When I entered the car park Hardy and the rest of the guys were all ready to load the bike of the rider that fell yesterday.

With that done we quickly sorted out the rear of the cruiser to make sure our tools are readily available and gave the front a quick clean.

My Oupa was altyd pynlik netjies op sy kar en het ons van kleins af geleer dat jou kar buite by tye mag vuil wees, maar nooit binne nie.  Hy het geglo dit is n direkte refleksie oor hoe jy as mens ook is.  Hardy laat my dink aan my Oupa as dit by voertuie kom.

Anyway, back to our story.  We had our meeting and during breakfast the mist started lifting and so did my mood.

Soon after we got going and it was great to see the guys all excited about the days route as they set off in front of us.  You could see the guys were starting to get comfortable on their steeds.

We travelled to Heimville where everyone refueled.  Ive visited Heimville and Underberg many years ago and I was happy to see that it still had the same feel and attraction as I remember it.  So many places nowadays change in a short time, but these two quint little dorpies seem to be well preserved.

Next stop was to be Matatiele as we hit the gravel roads again.  We soon came to a halt after two riders took some time out to enjoy the scenery.

Just as we settled into a nice pace, we saw a rider approaching us.  It was one of the journalists that lost a camera.

We stopped with Antoine from Ride & Drive to see if he finds it.  Hardy was carrying on with the trailer towards Matatiele.

Soon after Antoine turned around to assist the journalist.  A lot of time was lost through this little event.

Our backup team was now spread quite wide and out of radio contact.  Not long and we received a message:

F71-020
ll=-30.68912,28.50276
HAR - J ai besoin d une aide technique.
I need a technical help

Seconds later we received the call from Hardy that it was a rear flat in Matatiele.  We sent a message to Antoine that we will be heading towards the distress call while he still assisted the journalist.

When we arrived in Matatiele, Hardy already had the rear wheel off and we were just in time to hand him a new tube and assist with the easy bits.

Done and dusted, with the rider on his way again, we waited for the last bike and bakkie to catch up so we can fall back in our sweeping position.

By the time they arrived, we were approximately 70km behind the group.  Another refuel was scheduled in Mount Fletcher and by the time we arrived there, we managed to make up some good ground.

Next stop was a picnic lunch next to the road on our way to Nauds nek.

The scenery was spectacular!

As we stopped, we were informed that well have to load another bike on the trailer due to damage after a fall.  No injury to the rider, but the engine side cover had a hole in it and lost the majority of the oil.

The damage was quickly assessed and the Pratley Steel putty appeared soon afterwards.  The team made quick work of the situation and while we were grabbing a quick lunch, it gave the Pratley putty time to set.

Die manne van Honda Europa het gister hoekal ges hulle is besig om te kyk na beskerming vir enige toekomstige byeenkomste van die aard.
