Last year I bought a 2009 WR450F, and emidiatly had a special love affair as this was close to home as my love of my life was an 1983 IT250... What a bike that was.

So Sunday we did a short dirt ride, DRZ400, KTM690 and my WR450. Firstly this is more bike that I can handle. Being 125kg and 1.95m tall I'm not a small guy and definitely not the fittest.

We did 200 odd K's on dirt... Single track, dirt highway and sand. I had to bail and head home on the tar as this ride was to much for me.

The bike was awesome, cruising on the dirt road at 80-110km/h, I had to hold back as I got a bit scared. The DRZ and KTM was way ahead of me all the way.

Refueling along the way the WR and DRZ use exactly the same amount of fuel..... 20km/l, now that is awesome. So the range is +/- 150km so with a 5l fuel bladder range should be 250km!

The seat is a killer but that can be sorted. The 90km back home was sitting and standing but the bike did 120km/h all the way home and at 120 if you open the throttle 140 was just a few seconds away.

The 1000km service interval might be an issue but really how many people do more that 1000km over a weekend and the oil change only take 10min.

So for R35000 this is an awesome bike and the best bag for the buck.
