690's through the years
« on: March 04, 2019, 01:37:40 pm »
Hi Team

Believe that the 690 pre 2012 was actually a 654 motor?

Then 690 cc from 2012 and from 2014 onwards with ride by wire, 3 modes etc etc.

Did they all come with ABS?

Any difference in vibrations between pre 2012 and post 2012?

Had a 1998 640 Adv and the vibes were something else. Magic machine though...

The pre 2012's were a 650 cc yes, vibes are pretty much on the 2012 as pre 2012. imho, it's an absolute non issue. Not sure what people talk about. But maybe because I'm used to thumpers and thus it's not an issue for me? I don't get the "vibes" thing. The 640 was definitely there and that is my yardstick based on how other people complain about the vibey 640 -  but it's all part of the character is it not?
Anyway, I think the 690 is pretty vibe free tbh. ABS is absolutely there from 2014 onward, not sure pre 2014. Abs is switchable though, on off and if you want to buy a dongle that plugs in under the seat in 5 seconds, you can also have "off-road mode" ABS on in the front and off at the rear. But the best of that is that whichever way you set it, on, off or off-road, the dongle remembers the setting even after switching off the bike.
