Zoetendal Enduro - (Bonnievale) CANCELLED!! MAYBE ON AGAIN
« on: March 05, 2019, 11:59:54 am »
Howzit dogs. I'm involved with a small independent school in L'Agulhas - the southernmost school in Africa. We are always scrounging to raise funds to keep the school open, as school fees alone don't pay all the bills.

I've been setting up an enduro track on the Stormsvlei side of Bonnievale for the last couple of weeks, and together with Bash Adventures, we are holding a licensed funduro on 13 April. Please support us if you can. Bring the family with. They can chill next to the Breede River while you sweat in the hills. Food and cool drinks will be for sale at the venue.

As you can see by the poster, everyone is welcome, even Kawasaki owners.

Hi Ross,
What does "licenced funduro mean?
Would love to come and ride@support, but do not have a race license at the moment
regards

Thanks Jaco. Basically, the difference between an enduro & a funduro is that with a funduro it is not a "race" or a competition . There will be no prizes for placings, and there is no series, as in a group of events whereby competitors accumulate points over the course of a season. Does that make sense? There will still be medics on site, and some competitors will still "race", but you can ride it as fast or as slow as you want, and you are free to do as many laps as you want.

I sort off understand the concepts, but do you need a licence to do this specific event - your called it a "licenced funduro", hence the reason for my question.

No club/race licence required. What I mean by licenced is that all the permits have been granted by the necessary authorities. :thumleft:

I think I am too old.  But I would not mind riding (and paying) there just on a casual basis.  With a few friends on XR's.

No you are not too old Deon, just ride within your capabilities, I did my last official race at 57 and then still rode fun events for several years after, go for it or as the youngsters would say "just do it".
If You're going through hell, keep going.

Pull in. There'll be chicken routes at the tricky sections for the bigger bikes.

I am not to worried about my XR650R handling the route.  But I have learned to dislike riding in dust and trying to hard.  I was hoping the owner of the farm said yes, that is a good idea.  I will open this route on my farm for five paying riders or more. Just book in advance.  You can camp at the dam, no facilities except water.  But maybe that is just wishful thinking.

Further to Deon's message above, I'd be happy to make a plan for a group of guys to come and ride free of charge, providing you assist me with the route marking and clearing.  :thumleft:

I'm probably not the kind of man power you have in mind, but what does route marking and clearing entail?

Basically just deciding where the track will be, marking it out, and doing the odd bush chop. Riding a couple of times in a row also opens it up.  :thumleft:
