Biker down. That would be me.
« on: March 20, 2019, 06:14:16 pm »
Buds and I went on a tame dirt ride, as we sometimes do on a Wednesday. Heading for the Van Stadens upper dam. I had to take my heavy Pig 'cos the 650's electrics were playing up.
(advice please on the X/Challenge thread)

The gravel was wet, and I was thinking "this is good - no dust",  then all of a sudden I hit the deck, bloody hard. :eek7:

Not too serious, just another scrape on the valve cover which will clean up easily, but both right side indicators moertoe.  (Jughead, if you're reading can you help?)

As for me, I've got a busted clavicle among other knocks and wrenches. It's bloody painful so 'scuse the wobbly typing. The guys managed to heave the bike around and point it the other direction, and I managed to ride home in pain and shame. Not too traumatic in the overall scheme, but telling about it helps to get the shock out of my system.

But I say shame because, worst of all,and I'm not even sure I want to tell about it, but alright. I crapped myself!  :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[

SHUDDUP, IT'S NOT FUCKING FUNNY!  >:(  :(  ;D  :imaposer:

No shame in it, you just heal fast and well.

And that's why we always take the bog roll with on a out ride. Well done for climbing back on and riding home.  Not many men would be able to do this sport at your age.   :hello2: :hello2:

The problem with a broken clavicle is it makes it difficult to wipe your arse, is it your drinking arm?  :sip:

There is no such a thing as a biker not falling. Strongs and vasbyt with the healing.
Most important always that the bike is ok  :ricky:

Thanks guys. Drinking, not too bad a problem, I can manage left handed. The butt operation was taken care of in the shower the moment I got home. This morning as yet I'm waiting to see how I get on.  :-\

Sleeping wasn't bad, they gave me some pretty good knockout pills, and I knew it was no use waiting for Dawn, she left me for some other guy ages ago. :(

Thankfully I wasn't wearing any ATGATT, so no expensive jacket and boots got messed up. Just a  Mr. Price zipper and the shirt underneath it consigned to the rag bin, and my cheapie open face is all black so the gouges will sand out, and be ok with a bit of aerosol.  ;)

I’ve never met you, JB, but we’re of the same generation, and I can relate WRT all the details shared above...

Ever onward, but never straight, my ‘bru... that’s my motto in all these things. We’re over the hill and down the slope, but not yet at the bottom... and in that respect, there’s no shame, only pride in the self-honesty that riding out there is bound to generate. ✊
