Weet nie watter jaar model joune is nie, maar ek het die 2004 GS 1200 en hy vat 4x NGK DCPR8EKC (2x primary en 2x secondary)
Die DOHC motors vat die duur bliksems.

Eina pyn  :eek7:

Try the Bosch YR5LDE from Diesel Electric.

Thanks Jughead. Will they fit a 2010 model? I see that they are recommended for Hexheads? So far I have no luck locating the NGK MAR8B-JDS plugs anywhere.

No, YR5LDE is for single cam.  Twin cam takes the MAR8B-JDS available from Midas.
Bit the bullet and ordered from midas @R150/plug. Another bike shop quoted R250/plug, or R165/plug if I buy 10..

Couldn't come right with diesel electric

How much rust is too much on a drive shaft? How do you treat/prevent it from rusting?

FD oil was clean, no metal shavings on drain plug, no photo unfortunately just a far shot, doubt that the condition of the oil is clear

Gearbox oil looked good also, but did find some metal shavings on the filler plug, nothing on the drain plug, but the filler plug has a magnet...

All perfectly normal, my 1150 had much more.  the rust doesnít matter.

Antonie next time you drain the FD oil let the FD hang over a bucket over night. Much more oil comes out that way I have measured it.

Thanks vir die tip oom Chris, hy het omtrent gedra in vir 24h, daar het omtrent 200ml uitgeloop, maar sien bmw het Írens gesÍ refill net 180ml.

Het gearbox en engin olie ook 24h laat loop.

I finally finished the bike tonight. Fired it up and saw the rear wheel spinning in neutral (on center stand), pulled the clutch and it stopped. Never noticed this before. Why would this be?

I only changed gearbox oil, no work on clutch. Don't think that the shaft I had off can affect this.

Edit: unless somebody says I should not ride the bike, I am taking her to work tomorrow for a test run. Hope everything stays on the bike.

That is caused by the drag of the oil on the gears in neutral. completely normal. It wil more likely happen when cold as the are thicker then.
